Del Oro, NU Top Opening Week Rankings

Two weeks into the prep football season, voters in the foothillpreps.com football rankings for area JV and Frosh grid teams have checked in with their

first ratings of the season.

All in all, it looks like an exciting season for teams and their followers.

JV

1.Del Oro (2-0) - Four standouts from last season's 10-0 frosh team are now starting for DO's varsity but the Golden Eagles still possess plenty of firepower. This week: another toughie in the form of Clovis West.

2,Colfax (1-0) - After opening 41-20 win over El Camino, Falcons had "bye". Host Union Mine Friday.

3.Bear River (2-0) - Bruins have 23-game win skein dating back to the 2008 season. This week: BR shouldn't overlook a pesky Golden Sierra squad.

4.Nevada Union (1-1) - After tough opening loss at McQueen, Miners bounced back with decesive win over Ponderosa. With their strength of schedule still ahead of them, Miners could be on the move.

5. Placer (0-2) - Albeit tough opposition in the form of Central Catholic and Grant, Hillmen still haven't found end zone in being outscored, 63-0.

Frosh

1. Nevada Union (2-0) - Miners opened with 13-7 win at McQueen in Reno then used MoNieves' four TDs to wax Ponderosa,35-6last week. Have "bye" this week.

2. Placer (1-0) -  Hillmen began season two weeks ago with 28-20 win over Del Oro. After "bye" last week, play at Sutter Thursday.

3.Colfax (2-0) - Falcons put big feather in hat with 29-22 come from behind win over an athletic Inderkum team.

4.Bear River (1-1) - Bruins didn't have speed to match quick Hug team last week in 26-0 loss to Hawks. This week; home versus El Camino.

5.Del Oro (0-2) - Eagles hadmore than their handsfull in 51-0 loss to Southern CI Section power Westlake last week.
