JV, Frosh Grid Polls Are Back
Nevada Union's JV football team, shown in white uniforms above, squared its record at 1-1 on the early season with a 38-6 win over Ponderosa. The Miners play at Monterey Trail Friday night. Sept. 9, 2010 Golden Eagles Top First Weekly Rankings The prep football season got underway in earnest last week with all area teams in action at the JV and frosh levels. All through the season, foothillpreps.com will be providing its weekly area rankings for teams. Here's how the first set of ratings shape up: JV 1. Del Oro (1-0) - Golden Eagles breezed past Colfax, 49-6. Play at tough Clovis West Saturday. 2. Bear River (2-0) - Bruins - who haven't been tested yet - don't figure to be pushed Friday at Golden Sierra. 3.Placer (1-0-1) - A 14-14 tie with Bethel prevented Hillmen from winning "mythical" Vallejo city JV championship. 4.Nevada Union (1-1) - Despite battling injury bug, Miners bounced back well at Ponderosa. 5.Colfax (0-2) - Falcons look for first win at Union Mine Friday.
Frosh 1. Del Oro (1-0) - Golden Eagles - all 85 strong - head to Clovis West Saturday for perhaps toughest game of season. 2.Colfax (1-1) - Falcons showed plenty of fight in 28-0 loss to No. 1 DO. 3.Nevada Union (1-1) - After tough opening loss to McQueen, Miners bounced back at Ponderosa. 4.Placer (1-0) - No truth that Hillmen got lost trying to find Gridley last week. 5.Bear River (1-1) - Ouch! Bruins surrendered 62 in loss to Inderkum.
