Bear River Astros trip up A’s, 12-5

The A’s of the Bear River Little League’s major division took their best shot at upending the league leading Bear River Astros this week.

After falling behind 11-0 to the heavy-hitting Astros, the A’s made the game respectable before finally bowing, 12-5. A’s pitcher Drew Cramer took a line drive to the lower leg and was forced to leave the game but the A’s were able to keep things in place and stay within striking distance.

Top hitter for the A’s was Dayton Anderson who was 3x3 and delivered a home run and double.

In addition, Hunter Cramer also cracked a home run among two hits and Nick O’Connor, Trace Anderson, Hayden Piner and Anthony Reiss all hit safely.

The Astros also had their share of bat stars with Donald Brennan going 2x4 with a home run and three RBIs, Tyler Toft (2x4) with a double, Brett Soloman (1x3), Jared Kilgore (1x3) and Ryan Ferrell (1x3).

Both Kilgore and Ferrell added doubles.

Bear River A’s 7 Penn Valley Giants 7 – In a game played Wednesday evening which was affected by the thunderstorms that hit the foothills area, the A’s and Giants battled to a 7-7 tie.

The game was tied after six innings but umpires called the game in the top of the 7th with the inclement weather having a factor.

Prior to the game’s suspension,  Dayton Anderson put together a 3x3 game with a pair of doubles and a RBI. Hunter Cramer was also a standout with a 3x3 night that included a triple and two runs batted in.
