BR Midgets Nipped IN OT

In a tight battle that went into an overtime session, the Bear River Jr. Bruins Midget team stepped out of SYFC divisional play and dropped a hard fought 24-22 decision at the hands of the host Oakridge Junior Trojans.

The Trojans put points on the board early in the first quarter but Bear River answered back in the second stanza when Ty Anthony DePalma-Sheilds pushed his way into the end zone on a run leaving the score tied at halftime, 8-up

.

In the third quarter a blocked punt by Bear River’s Chris Beardsley enabled the offensive line of  Aaron Cloyd, Derek Lilienthal, Conrad Ball, Alec Bergstad and Zack Winter along with DePalma-Shields, Derek Ross, and Zachary Daugherty, to march down the field.

Bear River finally scored on a quarterback keeper by Dillon Smith. However, Oak Ridge  answered the Bruins’ salvo by returning the ensuing kickoff for a Trojans touchdown.

Defensively, the likes of Smith, Cody Heard, Travis McKnight, Dakota Stroh, Eli Allen, Shane Soria, Sean Harwood, Nick Rousseau, Jake Savoie, Austin Dowling, Nathan Uclaray and Hayden Macklin all bounded together to hold the Trojans scoreless in the fourth stanza

.

Macklin also converted two kicks into 4 points in the contest.

Bear River scored first with Heard driving across the line, but missed the PAT. Oakridge then put six on the board and converted the extra point, making the final score 24-22

.

The Bear River Midgets will travel to play  the Natomas Nighthawks this Saturday at Natomas.
