Trio of BRLL Hurlers Team For 1-hitter

Playing at Tri-City Little League Park in Rocklin, the Bear River 11-year-old All Star team made an impressive District 11 tournament debut Thursday night.

Receiving a combined one-hit pitching effort from a trio of hurlers, Bear River made it look easy with a 10-0 first round win over Penn Valley.

On the mound for Bear River, Jacob Cross, Justin Leonard and David O'Brien were in complete control as they also combined to fan nine batters.

Leonard also helped lead the offense as he went 1x-3 with a double and 2 RBI. Cross was also 1x2 with 2 RBI while Trace Anderson went 1x3.

Meanwhile, also for BRLL, Mikey Rubio, Joel Rivett and Peyton Turner all reached base and scored.

On defense, BRLL mManager Randy Anderson noted that Jacob Van Patten at second base and Anderson in center field had good defensive games.

Bear River will play Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in a second round winner's bracket game against either Tri-City or Nevada City.
