May 2, 2009 BR Dodgers Nail Down Two Wins The Affordable Real Estate Loans Dodgers stayed on the winning trail Thursday night at Bear River by fashioning a nip and tuck 6-5 win over the Nevada City Giants 6-5 in a District 11 major division Little League contest. The Dodgers snapped a 3-3 tie in the third inning and then held off a late Giants rally in the bottom of the sixth to end the contest with the tying run at third base. Leading the Dodgers’ efforts was Michael "Scooch" Scudero who connected for a home run for the second game in a row and pitched a solid 2 2/3 innings to start the game. Dallas Penn earned the mound win for the Dodgers by hurling the final 3 1/3 innings and allowing only 3 hits. Penn also made the game’s final play defensively to preserve the win. Dodger hitters were led by Scudero's lead off homer, David O'Brien who went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, Wyatt Mitzel who was 2 for 3 and Jared Skowronski who doubled. Shane Anderson, Dallas Penn and Tony Bianchi also picked up hits. The Giants were led by A. Ortiz who went 2 for 2 and scored 2 runs. In an earlier game, the Dodgers blasted the Yankees, 12-4 with Scudero going 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI's and a pair of runs scored. O'Brien added a triple and a pair of RBIs while Kyle Krogman went 2 for 2, scoring 2 runs and had a RBI. Ryan Wagner pitched 3 shut out innings before he gave up the only four runs of the game in the 4th. Jutus Stratton pitched just 4 pitches and recorded two outs to get the Dodgers out of the fourth. David O'Brien pitched two shout out innings and struck out three to end the game. |
