Jr. Bruins romp past Lincoln, 46-0

Bear River’s Jr. Bruins Midget team is off and running in the 2008 grid campaign as the Lake of the Pines-based squad blasted visiting Lincoln, 46-0 last Saturday.

Once again the Bruins’ defense was tough as nails as the line play of Chris Beardsley, Ty Anthony DePalma-Shields and Travis McKnight proceeded to keep the middle of the field clogged up.

Meanwhile, the play of linebackers Dillon Smith, Jake Savoie, Cody Heard and Dakota Stroh provided the outside containment that shackled the Zebras’ outside running attempts.

Also playing well on the defensive side of the ball were Zack Winters, Austin Dowling, Hayden Macklin, Eli Allen and Nathan Uclaray. Both Allen and Uclaray were credited with pass iinterceptions in the game.

Zachary Daugherty also checked in with a good game with some big hits on kick off coverage.

Helping pave the way for the offense to roll was the line play of Winters, Aaron Cloyd, Derek Lilienthal, Conrad Ball, Alec Bergstad, Sean Harwood and Nick Rousseau.

Their efforts allowed running backs DePalma-Sheilds to score three touchdowns and Shane Soria, Uclaray, and Heard to tally one apiece.were also credited with one touchdown each.

Macklin also added points to the cause by booting 10 additional extra points through the uprights.

The Jr. Bruins will play their next games this Saturday in Roseville against the Woodcreek Jr. Timberwolves at Woodcreek High School.
