Jakob Freele of the Penn Valley Giants' Jr. Division team went 3x4 with two rbis in a 16-5 win over the Nevada City Red Sox.

Jr. Giants Tack Up Big Wins

The Penn Valley Giants junior baseball team stayed on the win track with a pair of recent wins.

In a game against the Nevada City Red Sox, the Giants parlayed pitching and hitting into a 16-5 win.

Jared Cook had another solid pitching performance for the Giants as he allowed just three runs on one hit with five walks and 10 strikeouts.

Travis Hansen pitched in relief to get the save.

The Giants banged out 16 hits in the game with Tanner Vallejo going  2x2 with a double and 2-run home run. Cook also contributed a 2-run double and blasted a 2-run home run.

Other top sticks were Travis Hansen 2x3 with a triple, three RBIs and three stolen bases; Jakob Freele, 3x4 with two RBIs; Ross Hart, 2x2;  Rhys Lyckberg 2x3 and Dakota Crider, Andrew Cummings and Andrew Hedger, each with a hit.

For the Red Sox, Cameron Townsend had a double and Julian Belluomini and Brandon O'Callahan both had singles.

The Giants also ran past the Grass Valley A’s 19-4 with Vallejo posting a big 4x4 game at the plate.

Freele added more punch with a 4x5 evening and three RBIs while Cummings went 3x5. Also having big games for the Giants were Cook, 2x3 with three RBIs; Dakota Crider 2x3 with 4 RBIs.
