The votes are in and the Colfax Falcons ruled the roost in the final foothillpreps.com football rankings for area JV and frosh football teams. At the JV level, Colfax's Pioneer Valley League champion Falcons team finished in a blaze of glory by handing previous No. 1 ranked Bear River, a 28-7 drubbing in its season finale. The strong closing surge by the 9-1 Falcons enabled Colfax to squeak past Del Oro which also finished the year 9-1. The frosh balloting was a little closer but thanks to their 18-0 shutout win, Colfax's Falcons 8-2 record by two games topped any rival. Here are the final ratings: JV 1.Colfax (9-1) - 1st JV league crown for Falcons in 10 years. 2.Del Oro (9-1) - Eagles shared SFL crown with Roseville. 3.Bear River (8-2) - Suffered 1st PVL loss since 2009. 4.Nevada Union (6-4) - Lost 19-14 finale at Rocklin. 5.Placer (4-6) - Hillmen topped Foothill in curtain closer.
Frosh 1.Colfax (8-2) - Despite losing leading rusher to JVs in mid-season, Falcons still won eight games. 2.Placer (6-4) - Hiilmen took finale at MV. 3.Nevada Union (5-5) - Miners were high-scoring team. 4.Del Oro (4-6) - Eagles ended season with win at Woodcreek. 5.Bear River (5-5) - Bruins blanked by Colfax in season finale.
