NCAL Football: Defense Helps Eagles Trip Up PV

Trailing 18-16 at halftime, the Mt. St. Mary’s flag football team rolled up its sleeves and turned to its defense to help the Eagles turn back Pleasant Valley by a 36-24 count in Nevada County Athletic League action Thursday in Lake Wildwood.

Leading the charge for the Eagles on defense was linebacker Ben Anderson and defensive lineman Alexis Carillo as they keyed the effort which allowed the Vikings just one second half score.

On offense, St. Mary’s was sparked by Michael Buonarati who tallied four touchdowns on runs and receiver Dominic Guiliani who hauled in a pair of touchdown tosses from quarterback Ben Kaupt.

For Pleasant Valley, Weston Messer fired three touchdown passes and Brandon Fouse added one. Top receivers were James Ramierz with four grabs for 122 yards and Nolan Stefani with one touchdown grab.

Clay Coon with a pass interception and Andrew Hedger with six falg pulls were the standouts for the Vikins on defense.

St. Mary’s will travel to play at Union Hill on Tuesday.
