Seven Hills Rallies To Gain 8th Grade Final

A fourth quarter rally helped push top-seeded Seven Hills into tonight’s 7 p.m. Nevada County Athletic League 8th grade boys basketball tournament championship game.

Trailing No. 4 seed Pleasant Valley for three quarters, the Raiders followed the one-two scoring punch of Dalton McClure and Sean Zuccaro to ease past the Vikings, 45-39 Friday evening at Nevada Union.

The win moves Seven Hills into tonight’s 7 p.m. 8th grade tourney title game against No. 2 seed Weimar Hills.

Pleasant Valley held a 23-17 lead at halftime but couldn’t hold off the regular season champions over the final two quarters.

McClure led all point-getters with 19 points while Zuccaro followed with 14. Seven Hills also helped itself from the foul stripe in the game by netting 10 of 13 charity shots.

Weston Messer’s 10 points, eight by Travis Hansen and seven each from Tanner Vallejo, Kyle Cota and Jared Cook led Pleasant Valley.
