Big Road Win For Magnolia Girls

Magnolia’s 8th grade girls basketball team ventured on the road to Lake Wildwood Thursday afternoon and returned home with a key Nevada County Athletic League win over Pleasant Valley.

Playing the tough Vikings nose-to-nose on their home court, Magnolia followed a gritty effort from Sarah Hagar who took three offensive charges to post a 34-18 win over the hosts.

Led by Hagar, Sara Schell, Cindy Solomon, Olivia Konttinen, Alli Thill and Savannah Welz, the Magnolia defense limited Pleasant Valley to six points or less in each quarter.

Hagar keyed the offense with 13 points while Schell added 10, and Thill scored seven. Schell also had a strong rebounding game for the Rattlers who improved to 8-0 and will host Seven Hills on Tuesday.
