NU JVs Too Much For Monterey Trail

Nevada Union's JVs improved to 2-1 on the season with a 46-0 thumping of Monterey Trail last Friday night at Hooper Stadium.

NU's Gareth Noxon rushed for a touchdown and also returned a fumble for another six points as the Miners led from start tofinish and never were threatned.

NU piled up 233 rushing yards, with Noxon leading the way with 68 yards. Jake Berger also broke off a 57 yard run with a touchdown, while Joseph Voight had a 56-yard run.

Conner McGuire caught three passes for 43 yards and a score from Michael Tapia, who was 4-for-4 passing with two TDs.

Timmy Lopez was the top tackler with 11 stops, while Chase Federmeyer and Dalton Ruckman each had eight tackles and Sam Hayward added seven.

NU willl play at Chico Saturday night.

Colfax JV 30 Union Mine 0 – Michael Wilson hit on 11 of 15 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns and Jack Baldoni and Bailey Bean sparked a hard hitting defense as the Falcons improved to 2-0.

Kyle Bryant and Chris Harshman each caught scoring passes from Wilson while Chauncey Trentman returned a pass interception 27 yards for another score.

Chas Reisinger added Colfax’s other touchdown on a six-yard run and Wilson added a 22-yard field goal. Leading the defense was JackBaldoni, Wes Woodward and Greg Painter.

Colfax will play on Thursday night this week, hosting Inderkum at 5:30 p.m.at Marson Stadium.

Bear River JV 27 Golden Sierra 0 - The Bruins improved to 3-0 and pushed their winning skein to 24 straight games dating back to the 2008 season with the shutout of the Grizzlies.

Bear River hosts Woodcreek Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Del Oro JV 34 Clovis West 12 - Del Oro improved to 3-0 on theseason by using a quick start to stun the visitors from the Central Section.

Using an early score from Dylan Kainrath and another six points from a pass by quarterback Michael Moore to Johnathan Tuttle, the Golden Eagles led 13-0 after only sixminutes of play.

Kainrth then added a nine-yard scoring burst in the second quarter before Moore sneaked over from a yard out to make the count, 27-0 Del Oro. Just before halftime Del Oro struck again when Dan Becker picked off a Clovis West pass and returned it 53 yards for yet another six points.

Del Oro plays at home Friday against Oak Ridge.

 

Frosh

Colfax Frosh 21 Union Mine 0 - Colfax High’s frosh football team used a stable of running backs to pile up 274 yards rushing as the Falcons defeated Union Mine, 21-0, Thursday night in Colfax.

Now 3-0 on the season, the Falcons followed ground efforts from Marcus Jackson (7x81), Sam Lahaie (10x70), Logan Hurst (6x61) and Carrick Hoffart (7x41) to power their way past the Diamondbacks.

Handling Colfax’s scoring chores were Jackson with runs of 66 and three-yards and Lahaie with a 27-yard jaunt.

Leading the defense for Colfax were Jeromy Cabodi (interception, fumble recovery), Brian Little, Cameron Jackson, Alex Tobiasz and Pat Beninga.

Bear River 28 El Camino 20 – The Bruins bounced back from a loss last week to Hug of Reno to get the win. Bear River, 2-1, hosts Woodcreek next Thursday.

Clovis West 24 Del Oro 13 – After falling big to a powerful Westlake team from Ventura County last week, Del Oro put forth a good effort against the Fresno-area squad.

Tanner Robison and Bryce Beauchamp scored touchdowns for the Golden Eagles who host Oak Ridge Thursday night. Defensive standouts for Del Oro included Dustin Edwards, Grant Meteer, Zack Ruybal and Brandon Jepson.

Sutter 34 Placer 7 – The Hillmen (1-1) were held to just a fourth quarter 80-yard kickoff return by Austin Hess for a touchdown by the Huskies who dominated the contest.

Ryan Gray rushed eight times for 60 yards and was also in on a team high eight tackles.  Cole Blackwell had three passreceptions for 60 yards for the Hillmen whoplay at Casa Roble Thursday.
