Nevada Union's JV defense shined on this play but the Miners still dropped a 24-10 game to Franklin of Elk Grove last Friday, their first loss of the season.

 

Hillmen take over No. 1 JV poll spot

There was a big shake-up this week at the top of the foothillpreps.com’s football rankings.

Thanks to Franklin of Elk Grove’s 24-10 win over Nevada Union, the Miners’ first loss of the season, previous No. 3 Placer has leaped to the top of this week’s poll.

Placer, 6-1 on the season, handed Bear River a 28-12 loss to improved to 3-0 in Pioneer Valley League contests,

Del Oro, meanwhile, rebounded from its loss to Granite Bay by coming back and handing previously undefeated Roseville a 38-24 setback. Next ip for the Golden Eagles is an undefeated Woodcreek team this Friday in Loomis.

At the frosh level, Del Oro remained No. 1 in the Big Little Five with a 30-3 romp over Roseville.

This Week’s poll:

 

JV Top Five

 

  • Placer (6-1) – Hillmen take over top spot after thumping Bear River, 28-12. Play at 7-0 Lincoln Friday.

 

  • Del Oro (5-2) -  Golden Eagles will be tested by undefeated Woodcreek team this Friday after handing Roseville first loss of season, 38-24.

 

  • Colfax (4-3) – It wasn’t pretty but Colfax’s 33-12 win over El Dorado leaves Falcons 4-0 in Pioneer Valley League play.

 

  • Nevada Union (6-1) _ Miners fall from No. 1 after looking listless in 24-10 loss to Franklin of Elk Grove. 

 

  • Bear River (2-5) – Same old story for Bruins – more yards and first downs than opponents in loss to Placer.

 

Frosh Big Little Five

 

  • Del Oro (7-0) – Golden Eagles stay perfect with 30-3 throttling of Roseville.
  • Nevada Union (6-0) – Early two-point conversion was difference in 8-6 win over inspired Franklin of Elk Grove.
  • Colfax (5-2) – Falcons get “bye” this week after blanking El Dorado, 41-0.
  • Bear River (5-2) – Late fourth quarter comeback boosted Bruins past Placer, 20-17.

 

         Placer (3-4) – Can Hillmen rebound at Lincoln     Thursday ?
