Weimar Hills, Union Hill Gain Finals

The Weimar Hills and Union Hill 7th grade boys basketball teams could have saved the Nevada County Athletic League tournament schedule makers alot of time and headaches.

The top-two seeds played like it Friday night in semi-final games to earn a berth in today's 5:45 p.m. NCAL tournament championship game at Nevada Union High.

Top-seeded Weimar Hills advanced via a 30-10 win over Seven Hills.

Jack Baldoni's 10 points, eight by Jordan Balser and six by Chris Harshman led Weimar's attack in the win.

Union Hill, meanwhile, used a key late game free toss by Kyle McCombs to lead the No. 2 seed Bearcats to a 36-34 win over No. 3 seed Forest Lake Christian.

Logan Gardner's 14 points, 10 from Jake Berger and five from McCombs paced Union Hill.

Nathan Selleck also drew praise from coach Ryan Ellis for a stellar defensive game turned in on Forest Lake's top offensive threats.

Forest Lake, which plays Seven Hills in today's 2 p.m. third place game, was led by Chase Augustino who tallied eight points.
