Nevada Union running back his a hole in JV action last Friday against Ponderosa. The Miners dropped a 27-12 contest to the visiting Bruins.

Bruin JVs Roll In Opener

Josh Toft and Trevor McGee both rushed for 112 yards and each scored a pair of touchdowns to help Bear River’s JVs power past Capital Christian, 41-14, in the season opener for both team

Quarterback Dallen Huetter also added a 39-yard touchdown run and connected with Justin Butler on a 10-yard score.

On defense top tacklers for the Bruins included Toft (7), John Magni (6), Dillon Huffman (6), Jimmy Bamburg (6) and Harley Suarers (4).

Bear River plays at Calaveras on Friday.

Placer 37 Rosemont 12 - Colton Davenport scored a pair of touchdowns to spark Placer in the opening game win. Joe Mangino and Kaydon Gower also added touchdowns while David Daniels caught a 35-yard scoring strike from Johnny Foley.

Jordan Rawls also added a pair of two-point conversions while defensively Jake Callahan had two interceptions.

Colfax  27 Center 8 – Hunter Owens racked up 112 yards on 15 carries and scored four touchdowns to give new Colfax JV coach Jason Stowers a win in his head coaching debut.

Nolan Karbowski and Sam Quinlan also played well on offense for the Falcons.

Leading the defense were Zac Coffman, Chris Hoffman, David Mowbray and Cory Rodgers. 

Ponderosa 27, Nevada Union 16 – Slowed by a flu bug which had ran rampant through its team, the NU JVs were handed a setback in its opening game.

The Miners were led by quarterback Josiah Paye's 130 rushing yards, while Gabe Humphers led defensively with 10 tackles, including five solo stops.

Del Oro 40 Foresthill 0 – In a mismatch that saw the Golden Eagles attempt only one pass in the game, Del Oro used a pair of touchdowns each from Russell Smith and Tanner Huber to blast the Wildfires.

Austin Howerton added a 70-yard kick return for another score while Alex Mason and Ross Jarvis both sparkled on defense for the winners.
