Oct. 31, 2011 DO JVs Perfect Season Halted By Tigers The old sports adage that "all good things must come to an end" rang true last Friday night in Loomis. Unfortuantely for the Del Oro Golde Eagle JV football team, it maked the end of a two-year 18-game win streak that the sophomore gridders at DO saw come to an abrupt end. Playing a tough Roseville team that could do no wrong, the Golden Eagles fell behind 14-0 at the end of a quarter, 21-0 by halftime and never recovered on their way to absorbing a 42-7 setback. "Let's put it this way, Roseville played a heck of a game," said Del Oro coach Jerry Van Lengen. "We've had some bumps and bruises but I'm not taking away anything from Roseville, they kicked our fannies." With the win, Roseville ties Del Oro, both at 3-1, for the SFL lead with one game remaining. Del Oro, 8-1 overall, will play at Woodcreek on Friday night while Roseville hosts Granite Bay. Rocklin, who earlier handed Roseville it's only loss, was knocked out of a possible share of the league lead when Granite Bay stopped the Thunder, 14-7, last Friday. For Del Oro, the loss was the first for the Golden Eagle sophomores who were 10-0 as freshmen and up until Friday had not been tested except for a close win over CIF Southern Section power Westlake and Rocklin.
