The Bruins remained undefeated by handing Placer a 35-14 loss. obfoto.com Oct. 26, 2009 Del Oro, Bruins In Runaway Wins A pair of showdowns between undefeated JV teams never really materialized last Friday night as Del Oro and Bear River each scored respective lopsided wins in victories which kept each team with perfect records. At Loomis, the Golden Eagles lived up to their No. 1 foothillpreps.com’s No. 1 ranking with a 41-12 drubbing of previously undefeated Roseville. The Golden Eagles moved to 7-0 with the win. Meanwhile, at Lake of the Pines, undefeated Bear River (7-0) built a big early lead and rolled to a 35-14 win over previously unbeaten Placer. Here’s a recap of last weekend’s JV action : Bear River 35 Placer 14 - Josh Toft rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns and Jimmy Bamburg added 148 yards and two more TDs as the Bruins rolled. Bear River rolled up over 300 yards on the ground. Bear River coach Chris Bean praised the offensive line work of Jordan Seeley, John Magni, Trenton Robinson, Kyle Bowen and Brayden Dutrow. Dillon Huffman led the Bruin defense with eight-tackles while Bamburg, Magni and each had six stops. Will Slane scored on a 52-yard run for Placer (6-1, 2-1) in the second quarter. Colton Davenport added a 2-yard TD run in the third. Del Oro 41 Roseville 12 - Del Oro turned what was billed to be its toughest challenge into a runaway. In his first game back from injury, Kyle Anderson opened the scoring with a 2-yard dive before Alex Bertrando returned the ensuing squib kick 65 yards for a touchdown. Nick O’Sullivan scored the third touchdown on a 2-yard dive to give Del Oro a 19-6 halftime lead, and added his second of three scores in the third quarter on a 4-yard run. O’Sullivan capped a three-touchdown night with another score late in the contest. The final Del Oro score came from Alex Mason who recovered a fumble in the Roseville end zone. Colfax 34 El Dorado 6 – Hunter Owens and Nolan Karbowski each scored a pair of touchdowns to help the Falcons improve to 6-1 on the season with the homecoming win over the Cougars. Conner Mariscal and Ronald Edwards also played well for the Falcons in the win. The Falcons play at Highlands Friday night. Franklin (Elk Grove) 14 Nevada Union 6 – The Miners dropped to 4-3 on the season with the tough Delta Valley league loss on the road Saturday night.
