Jr. Falcons Tie PG Midgets, 14-14

It was a tough afternoon all-around for the Colfax Jr. Falcons recently as the local youth gridders emerged with one tie and three losses against visiting Pleasant Grove from the Elk Grove area.

Colfax’s teams will be on the road this Saturday with games at Davis.

Colfax Midgets 14 Pleasant Grove 14 - This nail-biter went  down to the wire, and continued into double OT.  Colfax drew first blood with quarterback Patrick Neu using running backs Justin Kotey, Henry Freer and Perry to get things done for six points and the ensuing point after kick through the uprights for two extra points.

On the defensive line, Hoogendyk, Klar and Cano, defensively kept PG’s offense tied up with hard hits, sacks and tackles.  Kotey, Austin Mulderigg, Tim Stuck, Reisinger, Clay Southerland, Weir, and Schlittenhart were all in for multiple hard tackles throughout this hard fought defensive game.  Hurley also added an interception.

Pleasant Grove 21, Colfax Jr. Peewees 0 –The Jr. Peewees played a hard fought game versus the Jr. Eagles.  Colfax started the contest off with great tackles by Nathan Sawi and Seth and Logan McGlothlan.  Mason Ahrens also had a great game with multiple tackles and several great runs. Meanwhile, Heimann and Ray checked in with some impressive offensive moves.  Luke Baggett made a couple of great stops keeping PG out of the end zone.   More great tackles were turned in by Stuck, Besler, Morrill, Nickerson, and Heimann.

Pleasant Grove, 26 Colfax Peewees 0 -Another mostly defensive game by the Jr. Falcons with rain playing a factor.  Tackles by Blackburn, Saavedra, Baggett, and Tobiasz, several of which were in the backfield, kept the Pleasant Grove Jr Eagles on their toes.  Hobbs also stopped a run short of the end zone while Tobiasz stopped the point after attempt.  Offensively, Boice connects with Jenkins, Blackburn, Avilla, and McDade to keep Colfax moving up the field. More defense by McDade, Bean, and Griggs also were highlights.

Pleasant Grove 20 Colfax Jr. Midgets 16 - Colfax dropped a tough one to the Eagles despite quarterback Michael Wilson keeping  the ball moving offensively with a running and throwing game. Timmy Rawlins and Jake Medeiros were effective offensively and defensively, running the ball and hitting hard. Colfax scored one of its touchdowns off of a fake field goal with  Wilson hitting  Woodward for the score. Colfax also had a pass  interception by Bryant to end the half.  Rawlins and Chauncy Trentman, meanwhile, both had fine kick returns while Lopez added an interception, and Jack Baldoni led a tough defense along with Bean, Hurst and Hays.
