Jan. 6, 2012 NCAL Boys Basketball Off And Running Action from Nevada City to Lake Wildwood to Meadow Vista got the 2012 Nevada County Athletic League junior high boys basketball season off and running Thursday afternoon. Here's a recap of games that were reported. 8th Grade Seven Hills 60 Forest Lake 11, at Nevada City - The Raiders broke out to a 20-2 lead and never looked back in breezing past the Falcons David Clove led the big Raiders outburst with 17 points while Levi Love added 11 and Anthony DeLuca scored nine. Also contributing for the winners were Will Goss with eight points and Brenden McCarthy with seven. Jared Stephensen keyed the defense with several steals that led to easy scores including six points of his own. Kyle Mathiesen and Berend Williges also turned in strong play. K. Wang and M. Wright scored four points each for Forest Lake. Seven Hills will play in the Warrior Classic at Sierra Hills School in Meadow Vista this weekend. The Raiders tip off in their first round game at 6:15 tonight against Placer from Loomis. Union Hill 51 Weimar Hills 23, at Meadow Vista - The visiting Bearcats jumped out to a 12-3 early lead and then used their pressure defense and inside presence to race past the host Warriors. Casey Angove-King had a good all-around showing for the 'Cats on both the offense and defensive ends. Also turning in strong play were Chance Brown, Aaron Fleenor, Toby Carter and Daniel Carter. The game also returned to the Union Hill sidelines former Bearcats coach Dallas Wilvholm who had been Nevada Union's frosh coach for several seasons.
