Jr. Miners host Hillmen Sunday

NU entertains foothills rival here Sunday

The Nevada Union Jr. Miners’ youth football squads will host Placer this Sunday at Hooper Stadium on the campus of Nevada Union High School.

The games will be the Homecoming tilts for the Jr. Miners this year and will kick off at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

NU will be returning home after running into a very strong Granite Bay program last week on the road.

The host Grizzlies flexed their muscle in taking a 41-0 win on the Might Mites division; a 39-0 romp over the Jr. Peewees; a 13-0 decision over the Peewees; a 32-12 triumph against the Jr. Midgets and a 22-6 win over the Midgets.

On the Jr. Midgets level, the Miners are looking for continued improved play from the offensive line which includes center Matt Spillner, guards Anthony Hurst and Chad Grenon, tackles Bobby Curtis and Tim Dudley and tight ends Jared Cook and Logan Sheftel.

Meanwhile, providing recent interceptions on defense were Kyle Cota, Stone Sander, Tanner Vallejo and Sheftel.

Adding touchdowns for the Miners were Cody Haynes, Ian Davis and Nate Dickinson.
