May 7, 2009Bear River A’s Bats Break LooseThe Bear River A’s busted loose for 13 base hits in posting a 14-1 District 11 Little League major division baseball win over the Nevada City Giants. Hunter Cramer and Luke Burtt swung the heavy lumber for the A’s. Cramer led the rout with a perfect 3x3 plate effort which included two doubles and three runs batted in. Burtt, meanwhile, made his presence felt with a 3x3 game that also produced three RBIs. Adding more fuel to the A’s attack were Landon Tucker who was 2x2 with two RBIs; Nick O’Connor who was 2x4 with a double and a pair of RBIs and Dayton Anderson, Sean Mikan and Hayden Piner who all added singles. Anderson also proved to be a menace on the mound for the winners as he pitched four innings of one-hit ball, allowed just one run, fanned seven and walked none.
Bear River Astros 7 PV Dodgers 5 – The Penn Valley Dodgers more than held their own against the unbeaten Bear River Dodgers before the visitors from Lake of the Pines eked out a tight District 11 majors division win. The game was a see-saw affair with the two teams knotted at 2-2 after an inning before the Dodgers led, 3-2 in the third. After the Astros took a 4-3 lead, the Penn Valley club tied the contest at 4-4 and then took a 5-4 advantage after five. However, the Astros stayed calm and pushed over their late tallies for the win. Top bats for the Dodgers included Dalton Maxwell who had a pair of raps and a RBI; Jonathan Finau with a pair of hits and a RBI and George Olson with another RBI rap. Also providing offense for the Dodgers were David Mateos, Jimmy Fowler, Jesse Donohue and Logan Kerly. On defense catcher Matt Lane had a fine game for the Astros. |
