Bear River A’s Bats Break Loose

The Bear River A’s busted loose for 13 base hits in posting a 14-1 District 11 Little League major division baseball win over the Nevada City Giants.

Hunter Cramer and Luke Burtt swung the heavy lumber for the A’s.

Cramer led the rout with a perfect 3x3 plate effort which included two doubles and three runs batted in.  Burtt, meanwhile, made his presence felt with a 3x3 game that also produced three RBIs.

Adding more fuel to the A’s attack were Landon Tucker who was 2x2 with two RBIs; Nick O’Connor who was 2x4 with a double and a pair of RBIs and Dayton Anderson, Sean Mikan and Hayden Piner who all added singles.

Anderson also proved to be a menace on the mound for the winners as he pitched four innings of one-hit ball, allowed just one run, fanned seven and walked none.

Bear River Astros 7 PV Dodgers 5 – The Penn Valley Dodgers more than held their own against the unbeaten Bear River Dodgers before the visitors from Lake of the Pines eked out a tight District 11 majors division win.

The game was a see-saw affair with the two teams knotted at 2-2 after an inning before the Dodgers led, 3-2 in the third. After the Astros took a 4-3 lead, the Penn Valley club tied the contest at 4-4 and then took a 5-4 advantage after five.

However, the Astros stayed calm and pushed over their late tallies for the win.

Top bats for the Dodgers included Dalton Maxwell who had a pair of raps and a RBI; Jonathan Finau with a pair of hits and a RBI and George Olson with another RBI rap.

Also providing offense for the Dodgers were David Mateos, Jimmy Fowler, Jesse Donohue and Logan Kerly.

On defense catcher Matt Lane had a fine game for the Astros.
