Bear River A’s topple GV Angels

Defense and steady pitching paid dividends for the Bear River A’s Thursday night in a District 11 Little League major division game against the Grass Valley Angels.

Receiving consistent pitching and stellar defense which has thrown out three runners at the plate in their final two games, the A’s roared past the Angels for a 13-5 win.

Leading the mound performance for the winning A’s was the trio of  Dayton Anderson (4IP, 3 runs, 9 Ks), Anthony Reiss (1IP, 2 runs, 1K) and Hunter Cramer (1IP, 0 runs, 3Ks).

Big hitters for the A’s also abounded in the win with Anderson going 3x3 with a pair of RBIs. Reiss, meanwhile, went 2x3 with a homer and two RBIS and Cramer rapped a pair of doubles to drive in two more runs.

Aiden Ginn also had a 2x3 night with two RBIs while Landon Tucker added a RBI double, Sean Mikan two more hits and Trevor Bisagno a single.

PV Giants 28  Grass Valley A’s 7 – The heavy hitting Jr. Division Giants from Penn Valley erupted for 18 base hits in the big win over the A’s.

Leading the charge for the Giants in the win was Tanner Vallejo who banged out four hits in six trips to the plate and collected a gane-high five RBIs.

Also swinging big lumber for the winners were Travis Hansen (2x3,3 RBIs), Jared Cook (2x4,3 RBIs), Dakota Crider (2x2, 2RBIs), Jakob Freele (2x4, 2 RBIs) and Andrew Cummings (2x3).

Adding more punch for the Giants with hits were Kyle Yokom, Ross Frank, Alex Voboril and Ross Hart. Hansen earned the mound win for the Giants with three solid innings of work.

Penn Valley Dodgers 11 Grass Valley Orioles 10 – In an exciting District 11 majors game, the Penn Valley Dodgers used a key sixth inning rally to pull out the win over the Orioles.

With two outs and two strikes on him, the Dodgers’ Steven McClenthen drove in the tying run before David Mateos followed with a drive that just missed a home run by inches to score McClenthen with the winning run.

The dramatic rally started with a single by Grae Golightly, a walk to Ethan Good and the second perfect bunt of the game by Matthew Lane.

Dalton Maxwell pitched the final 3 innings with 7 strikeouts for the win. The Dodgers totaled 16 hits in the win with Mateos, Maxwell and Jimmy Fowler all picking up three raps apiece. Meanwhile, Golightly, Good and  Lane all collected two hits each.

In the RBI department, Fowler, Jonathan Fineau and Maxwell all drove in two runs each. The Dodgers held an early lead of 5-3 before the Orioles rallied to lead 8-6 after three innings and 10-8 going into the sixth.

On defense, Thomas Hansen had a great catch in left field while Jimmy Fowler added another fine glove gem at first base.
