Lady Rattlers 8th Grade Tops Weimar To Stay No. 1

With only two regular season games left, the Magnolia Lady Rattler's 8th Grade girls basketball team continues with an undefeated record.

Tuesday night victory over Weimar Hills showed a final score 50-31. Savannah Wirth and Kaely Rath posted season highs with 15 and 14 points respectively

Wirth showed true colors as a controlled leader with 7 assists. Rath, proving to be quite dominant in the paint, had 14 boards and 3 blocked shots. Gwen Lundy stepped in as Rattler's back-up point guard (following an arm injury to Wirth in the 2nd half) and was crowd-pleasing with a spectacular "give n go" in the 4th quarter.

Meanwhile, Kaitlyn Solomon and Mel Jenkins accepted tough defensive assignments and both impressed Rattler fans. Nerissa Long chipped in with 4 points and Andrea Hardin added 2.

The Rattler girls now gear up for the NCAL Tournament Oct. 14th/15th at Bear River and welcome strong performances from the bench, as the team will be missing quite a few players. No doubt the girls will prepare themselves, as all 12 players show willingness to step up with every challenge thrown their way!
