Magnolia, Union Hill win finales

Magnolia's 7th grade and Union Hill’s 8th grade girls basketball teams both chalked up regular season ending victories in Nevada County Athletic League play Tuesday night.

Both teams will now enter the NCAL Tournament which begins today at home sites and concludes Thursday and Friday at Bear River and Magnolia.

Here’s a recap of Tuesday’s games:

Magnolia 7th 21 Gilmore 9 – Magnolia’s 7th grade Lady Rattlers improved their record to 10-2 on the season with a 21-9 win over Lyman Gilmore.  Taylor Autrey led all scorers with 8 points and grabbed a handful of rebounds while Jessica Meylor had 5 points and played great defense.

Michelle Whiting tossed in 4 points and the scoring was rounded out with Malone Pearson and Raquel Addessi scoring 2 points each.

Union Hill 8th 42 Weimar Hills 11 – The Lady Bearcats 8th grade team wrapped up a perfect regular season with the lopsided win over Weimar Hills.

Leading scorers for the Union Hill effort were Lauren Mickel with 10 points, Janette Williams 9, Emma Peterson 7, Bailey Walker and Erin Selleck with 6 each and Katie Johnson with 4.

Williams, Mickel and Peterson all tanked three-point baskets.
