Nevada Union JV player Michael Buonarati makes a nice pass reception from Kyle Cota in last Friday's game with Granite Bay. Oct.14, 2010 JV Poll Top Spot Up For Grabs Something will defintely have to give Friday night in Loomis when Nevada Union's JV Miners invade Del Oro's Eagle Stadium to challenge Del Oro's JV Golden Eagles. Thanks to results from last week, Nevada Union (4-1-1) and Del Oro (6-1) are tied for the No. 1 spot in this week's foothillpreps.com's JV football poll. Interestingly, the Miners and Golden Eagles fell into the logjam at the top of the poll in different fashion. NU, the No. 1 ranked team for the last three weeks, appeared to have victory in its grasp when the Miners held a 17-14 lead over visiting Granite Bay with time winding down. However, the Miners were victimized by a slow clock operator and the Grizzlies were quick to take advantage when they converted a 36-yard field goal on the game's last play to forge a 17-17 tie. Del Oro, meanwhile, welcomed back starting quarterback Zach LaBar and responded with a 27-21 win over Rocklin, a team that holds a win over Oak Ridge, the lone team DO has fallen to. On the frosh level, Del Oro's power-laden squad continues to make it look easy as evident by last week's 42-6 clobbering of Rocklin. This week's polls: JV 1. Next up: 6-0 Foothill. Frosh 1.Del Oro (6-0) - Not true that Eagles want to split 80-man roster and play each other when season is over. 2.Colfax (5-1) - Falcons hope bye week didn't hurt timing. Thursday: at Foothill. 3.Placer (3-3) - Hillmen have solid 1-2 rushing punch in Cameron Scott and Todd Valliere. 4.Nevada Union (2-4) - Miners try their luck at Del Oro. 5.Bear River (2-4) - Bruins scored 26 at Placer but gave up 46.
