The teams at the top of the respective JV and Frosh polls in the foothillpreps.com stayed that way after excellent showings last week.
Here’s the Week Two Poll for area squads:
JV Top Five
1. Nevada Union (2-0) – Miners were solid on both sides of the ball in 24-12 win over Rocklin of the Sierra Foothill League. NU rushed for over 350 yards in the victory.
2.Del Oro (2-0) – A pair of early Cody O’Sullivan touchdown jaunts and an interception return by Brandon Acuna got Golden Eagles off and running in rout of Cardinal Newman.
* 3..Bear River (1-1) – Tough Calaveras defense held the Bruins in a 13-7 setback. Another tough foe in Woodcreek awaits Friday.
4. Colfax (0-2) – Falcons played a strong first quarter and a half before wilting in 42-14 blowout loss to 3-0 Truckee team. Undefeated Union Mine is next on Friday.
5.Placer (1-1) – Hillmen brought down to earth in 35-16 loss to Woodcreek. Casa, who beat Woodcreek, comes to Auburn Friday.
Frosh Big Little Five
Del Oro (2-0) – Loaded Golden Eagles had their way with Antelope, 40-0.
Nevada Union (2-0) – Lopsided win over Rocklin has Miners on the move.
Bear River (2-0) – Can Bruins play with the Big Boys? They’re at Woodcreek Thursday.
Colfax (1-1) – Bren Rooker’s 100-yard pick return for a score helps Falcons get into win column over Truckee, 22-13.
*Placer (0-2) Hillmen have played tough preseason schedule.
