Union Hill Trips Up FLC, 42-34

Union Hill raised its Nevada County Athletic League boys basketball record to 5-2 for the season with a 42-34 win over Forest Lake Christian Wednesday on the Falcons' court at Lake of the Pines.

The Bearcats climbed to an eight point lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Union Hill center Kyle McCombs had a very balanced double- double showing with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Jake Berger also helped run the Bearcats' offense while chipping in 13 points.

On the defensive side Beau DesPois and Collin Echols worked the boards by grabbing 6 rebounds a piece. Union Hill plays their third game in a row on Thursday by hosting Lyman Gilmore at 4 p.m.

Weimar Hills 47 Magnolia 25 - Weimar Hills used steady all-around efforts via Jake Logan, Wes Woodward, Jake Mederios and Chauncey Trentman to forge past the visiting Rattlers. Jack Baldoni and Michael Wilson both tallied nine points each for the winners while Woodward chipped in with eight.        Now, 7-0 in NCAL games, the Warriors visit Seven Hills Thursday at 4 p.m.  

 

7th Grade

Weimar Hills 29 Magnolia 20, at Meadow Vista – NCAL 7th grade leader Weimar Hills protected its home court Wednesday with the win over a pesky Magnolia squad.

The visiting Rattlers led early but Weimar Hills eventually took leads of 7-5, 15-9 and 24-15 at the first three quarter stops.

The Warriors’ biggest margin of the game was 27-15 before finally settling on the nine-point win. Leading the Warriors (7-0) was the trio of Ray Henry with 10 points, Pat Beninga with eight and Carrick Hoffart with five. Top scorers for Magnolia (3-4) were Tom Hereder with six and Spencer Wirth with four.

Forest Lake 32 Union Hill 28, at Lake of the Pines - Forest Lake followed

Logan Markstein's 11points, Konnor Chrstie's nine points and eight from David O'Brien to improve their NCAL record to 5-2. Christian Straub's 14 points and Chase Loper with nine, all on three-pointers, led UH.
