Action was hot and heavy Wednesday as Gimore and Forest Lake Chrisitan mixed it up in Nevada County Athletic League girls 8th grade basketball play. In photo above, FLC's Melanie O'Brien (14) goes up for two points over Gilmore's Hannah Bryant (00) and Olivia Nielsen (2).

Forest Lake 8th, Magnolia 7th Take Wins

Forest Lake 31 Gilmore 17 - Forest Lake Christian topped Gilmore 31-17 in recent Nevada County Athletic League 8th grade girls basketball action. Aly Englishled the scoring with 14 points and Melanie O'Brien and Jenna Oberg added seven and four points respectively.

Gilmore was led by Bryant's eight points and seven from Sydney Porter. The NCAL wraps up its regular season next week and will conclude with the league tournament Oct. 15-16 at Bear River High and Magnolia School.

Magnolia 7th 27 Pleasant Valley 2 - The Magnolia 7th grade Lady Rattlers improved their record to 9-2 on the season with a 27-2 win over the Pleasant Valley Vikings.

Michelle Whiting, Jessica Meylor, and Taylor Autrey played awesome defense and led all scorers while only playing in the first quarter with 6, 6, and 5 points respectively.

Raquel Addessi played great defense and scored 4 points while “T Mac” Taylor Machado scored 3 points and showed great hustle. Darian Coggan also played great defense and scored 2 points , and Domonique Solomon led the offense in the second half and scored 1 point to round out the scoring.
