Bearcats' Girls 7th Perfect

Oct. 3, 2008NCAL Girls Hoop Leaders Stay PerfectIt was business as usual for the respective Nevada County Athletic League girl’s basketball leaders Thursday afternoon. At Magnolia, the Lady Rattlers’ 8th grade team stayed perfect by rolling past Lyman Gilmore, 56-9. Solid all-around play from Alli Thill, Arianna Jensen and Justine Corralejo sparked the winners. Also contributing to the Magnolia victory were Sara Schell with 12 points, Sarah Hager with 10, Olivia Konttinen with eight and Cindy Soloman with six. In earlier week action, Magnolia (12-0) throttled Forest Lake Christian, 39-12 as Hager turned in a fine floor game spiced by handing out 10 assists. On the offensive end of the court, Schell’s 12 markers and 11 from Solomon led the way. Magnolia coach Chuck Nat also praised Corralejo for a strong all-around effort. Magnolia plays at Seven Hills on Tuesday and then hosts Pleasant Valley on Thursday next week. Union Hill 7th Grade 35 Weimar Hills 16 – In a well-played contest in Meadow Vista, Union Hill used a strong second half surge to turn back home standing Weimar Hills, 35-16. Lauren Mickel sank 15 points for the Lady Bearcats who remained undefeated in NCAL 7th grade action. Erin Selleck contributed nine points and Katie Johnson added six. In earlier action not reported, the Lady Bearcats blitzed Pleasant Valley on Tuesday with Mickel, Selleck and Bailey Walker forming a solid 1-2-3 punch with 14, 12 and 10 points respectively. Union Hill hosts Lyman Gilmore on Tuesday in its next NCAL action.
