Seven HillsTrips Up Bombers, 50-40

Luke Wojak and Sean Anderson both tossed in 12 points and Joey Souza added 11 as Seven Hills’ boys 8th grade basketball team tripped up Lyman Gilmore, 50-40, Tuesday in Nevada County Athletic League play at Gilmore.

Seven Hills squared its season record at 1-1 with the win while Gilmore slipped to 0-3.

Logan Gardner led Gilmore with 10 points.,

Pleasant Valley 44 Magnolia 36, at Lake Wildwood - In another tight NCAL 8th grade game, Pleasant Valley used a strong second half to trim Magnolia. The victory was the second straight in league play for the Vikings who were coming off a 2-1 effort at last weekend’s Warrior Classic tournament.

In the first half, the Vikings and Rattlers went at each other tooth and nail with the hosts going into the locker room at halftime with a slim 22-20 margin.

However, in the second half, the Vikings followed the 1-2 scoring of John Jones and Nolan Stefani to fuel the win. Jones tossed in 15 points while Stefani added 12.

For Magnolia, Jared Skrowronski notched a game-high 20 points while Zack Quirarte and Justin Rypma both added four points apiece.

Weimar Hills 49 Forest Lake 30, at Lake of the Pines –Weimar Hills raised its 8th grade mark to 3-0 with a win on the road at FLC. Balanced scoring sparked the Warriors as Jack Baldoni tallied 10 points, Jordan Balser eight, Cole Joyce seven and Kevin Zachman six.

For the Falcons, Jacob Yarborough sank 12 points and J.B. Baker added eight. 

7th Grade

Gilmore 35 Seven Hills 34 (OT) – After a buzzer beating three-pointer by Seven Hills’ Trevor Humphries forced the game into overtime, the host Bombers used a free toss by Jess Sutton in the extra session for the margin of victory.

Gimore, 3-0 in NCAL play, used even scoring in the win as Sutton, Josh Belendez and Jericho Mendez all tallied 10 points apiece. Meanwhile, Caspar Hendricksen and Brock Grininger aided the win by helping dominate the boards.

Humphries was the leading scorer for Seven Hills with 15 points while Harrison McIntosh added six..

 

Weimar Hills 33 Forest Lake 18 – The Warriors clamped down on defense in the second half and limited the host Falcons to just seven points in improving to 3-0 in NCAL action.

Weimar Hills led 11-2 at the end of the first quarter before FLC closed the gap at halftime to 15-11. However, in the third quarter the Warriors held the Falcons scoreless to break the contest open.

Once again a balanced offense led the Warriors as Ray Henry led the way with eight followed by Pat Beninga and Carrick Hoffart with six points each and Alex Tobiasz and Scott Irons with four apiece. David O’Brien’s seven points and five by Kyle Soria topped the Falcons (1-2).
