Eagles Win Opener

Hannah Liserra of the Mt. St. Mary's Eagles goes up for two points in Wednesday's win over Ready Springs in the first round of the Nevada County Athletic League's small school 8th grade basketball tournament. The Eagles advance to play top-seed Chicago Park in a semi-final game today at 5 p.m. in the West Gym at Nevada Union High School.

St. Mary's Takes On Top-Seed Chicago Park Today

In the opening game of the Nevada County Athletic League small school boys basketball tournament, the Mount Saint Mary’s Eagles roared past host Ready Springs, 47-33.

The win for St. Mary's moves the Eagles against top-seeded Chicago Park Friday at 5 p.m. in a NCAL tourney semi-final game. The contest will be played in Nevada Union High's West Gym.

The Eagles were able to mount a steady offense to keep the Raiders on the run.  Michael Buonarati, Ben Kaput, Ben Anderson, and Hannah Liserra all shouldered the scoring load for the winners.

Also supplying punch to the victory were Sam Reese, Dominic Gallelli, Jonathan Barrera and Joseph Peterson has the Eagles built a 25-15 cushion at halftime and kept the Raiders at bay the rest of the way.
