The Nevada County Wildfire’s girls softball program is taking the Northern California scene by storm.

In recent fast pitch tournament action, both the Wildfire 13 & under team and the 10 & under team both checked in with strong efforts to qualify for upcoming national tournament competition in San Diego and Orlando, Fla.

Under the direction of coaches Paul Szura, Rod Edwards, Rick Payne and Mark Mosman, the 13 & under squad finished the Fall Ball Blast Off tournament with a record of 4-1 to earn the USSSA’s top ranking in California and a No. 2 rating in the nation.

Not to be outdone, the 10 and under girls also shined as they also posted a 4-1 record and grabbed a No. 2 ranking in Northern California.

The Wildfire organization is just getting started and they are currently seeking sponsorships to help defray expenses for the upcoming tournaments.
