LL Roundup: PV Dodgers, BR A’s Notch Victories

The Penn Valley Dodgers and Bear River A’s both notched District 11 Little League major division wins this week and both came in impressive fashion.

Here’s a recap of both those games:

Penn Valley Dodgers 14 Grass Valley Giants 2 – The Penn Valley Dodgers broke out the heavy bats in registering its big win over the Giants.

Blasting triples in the game for the Dodgers were David Mateos and Jonathan Fineau while teammate Jimmy Fowler whacked a bases loaded double which drove in three runs.

Jesse Donohue, Dalton Maxwell and Steven McClenthen all added two-base raps for the winners while Logan Kerley, Ethan Good, Grae Golightly, Matt Lane and Thomas Hansen all hit safely.

George Olson was the winning hurler for the Dodgers as he racked up eight strikeouts and was backed up by superb outfield play.

Bear River A’s 10 Grass Valley A’s 0 – Dayton Anderson was on-target on the mound for the A’s as he fired a four-inning no-hit, no-run game highlighted by six strikeouts.

At the plate it was key hitting from Nick O’Connor (2x2), Anderson (2x2), Anthony Piziali (2B, 2 RBIs), Hunter Cramer (2B, RBI) and Sean Mikan (1x1 RBI) leading the way.

Also having a hand in the win were Hayden Piner with a RBI single and Aiden Ginn and Anthony Reiss with hits.

On defense, Mikan had a sterling catch in centerfield to save the no-hitter and Luke Burtt at third base and shortstop Hunter Cramer also had outstanding plays.

In an earlier game, despite a 3x3 game with a triple and two RBIs, the A’s fell to the Foresthill A’s, 10-3. Nick O’Connor had eight strikeouts in four and two-thirds innings of work.
