Penn Valley Dodgers Clip BR A’s, 3-1

In one of the better played District 11 Little League interlock games of the early season, the Penn Valley Dodgers used good pitching, timely hitting and fine defense to slip past the Bear River A’s Wednesday night, 3-1.

Key raps picked up by the Dodgers included Dalton Maxwell’s RBI double in the fourth inning which chased home teammate Thomas Hanson with a tally that knotted the score at 1-1.

In the fifth, the tight contest opened up in favor of the Dodgers when George Olson singled, stole second and third bases and then scored on a passed ball.

The Dodgers then added an insurance run in the sixth when Ethan Good also singled and came around to score on another A’s passed ball.

Also standing out in the Dodgers win was the pitching of Olson and Jimmy Fowler. Olson allowed just one hit and fanned eight in four frames of work while Fowler fanned three in two frames of duty to notch the win.

Defesnively, Jonathan Finau at first base and Maxwell at second base came up with the outstanding plays.

Dayton Anderson stood out for the A’s as he twirled a solid game. Anderson toiled all six innings and allowed just three runs on three hits and fanned 10 batters.

Sean Mikan had a hit and picked up the A’s RBI while Nick O’Conner and Anthony Reiss also hit safely.
