Dodgers, Brewers Grab PVLL Wins

Penn Valley Dodgers 10 Penn Valley Angels 0 – The PVLL Dodgers’ major division team looked good in their home opener by handling the Angels in a 10-0 verdict. Joseph Ten Eyck took the win on the mound going 4 2/3 innings with 11 strikeouts.

The Dodgers scored twice in the second frame with a RBIsingle by Steven “Flash” McClenthen, who latter scored with some daring baserunning. The Dodgers increased their lead to 6-0 in the 3rd which included an RBI single by Weston “Yoda” Gaddis. Clayton Sorenson also added a RBI hit and struck out the only batter he faced in the fifth inning.

Dalton Maxwell put the game out of reach in the bottom of the fifth inning with a bases loaded triple off the center field fence to cap a 2 for3 night at the plate. Maxwell closed the game by striking out the side. Dodgerstravel to Pioneer Park Monday to face the Nevada City Yankees.

Penn Valley Brewers 5 Penn Valley Angels 4 – In a tight junior division Between two Penn Valley LL squads, the Brewers pushed over a run in the bottom of the 7th to eke out the win.

Jonathan Finau collected the winning RBI hit while Jakob Freele gained the pitching win. Andrew Daniels went 3x4 to pace the offense while Freele went 2x4.

Also hitting for the winners were Anthony Fuegos who was 2x3 and Chris Sardo and George Olsen. Both Freele and Olsen racked up five strikeouts apiece on the mound.
