Sept. 12, 2008 PV Flag Football Uses Big 2nd Half; Tops YRC, 31-6
A big second half proved to be the key ingredient for the Pleasant Valley School flag football team in posting a 31-6 win over Yuba River Charter Thursday in a Nevada County Athletic League match up played at Lake Wildwood. Leading just 6-0 at halftime, the Vikings broke the game open in the second half with an impressive running and passing attack and a sturdy defense. Leading the charge were quarterbacks Brandon Fouse and Clay Coon. Fouse completed three passes for 72 yards and also had a three-yard touchdown run. Coon, meanwhile, also completed a trio of passes totaling 62 more yards and included a 45-yard touchdown aerial to James Ramierz. Ramierz was the game’s leading receiver with three grabs for 105 yards. Weston Messer led the Vikings’ rushers as he totaled 97 yards on eight carries. Teammate Nolan Stefani also added a 12-yard scoring jaunt for the winners. On defense, Freddy Williams led the Vikings with eight flag pulls while Ryley Berzios contributed five. Kevin Patterson topped off the impressive effort by returning an interception 45 yards for another touchdown. Next week Pleasant Valley will host Magnolia on Tuesday and Mt. St. Mary’s on Thursday. |
