Pitcher Jacob Nored of the Sierra Foothills Astros fires a pitch in Tuesday's opening round action of the District 11 Tournament of Champions for major division teams. The Colfax-based Astros posted a 21-2 win over the Penn Valley Mets and will play Nevada City Sunday at 5 p.m. in Rocklin.

District 11 TOC Gets Underway in Rocklin
The District 11 Little League major division Tournament of Champions kicked off Tuesday night in Rocklin with major division teams from Sierra Foothills and Nevada City both checking in with opening round victories.
IIn the opening game, the "A" team from Nevada City pulled out a 9-5 win over Auburn's "B" team.
The nightcap saw the Sierra Foothills Astros score early and often in a 21-2 drubbing of the Penn Valley Mets. The win moves the Astros into Sunday's 5:00 p.m. secound round game against Nevada City. :
