Turnovers Doom Placer Frosh in Loss, 33-13

Placer’s freshman football team paid dearly for its turnovers Thursday night and ended up dropping a 33-13 on the road in its season opener at Galt.

“We turned the ball over three times inside their 10-yard line and also had an interception run back for a touchdowm,” said Placer coach Jim Gray. “They really capitalized on our mistakes.”

Placer was originally slated to play Rosemont but received word earlier in the week that Rosemont had dropped its freshman program. Some quick calls were made and the game with Galt was arranged.

“Galt has a big, physical team and I thought we hung right there with them,” said Gray. “We just can’t turn the ball over as many times as we did and expect to win.”

Placer’s two touchdowns were scored no a 10-yard run by Casey Sabins and a 45-yard pass from D.J. Rodriguez to Alec Burnett.

Placer will play next Thursday at Woodcreek
