Union Hill, Magnolia Girls Keep Marks Perfect

It was the rich getting richer Tuesday afternoon in Nevada County Athletic League girls basketball action.

In a 7th grade game at Union Hill, the host Bearcats improved their NCAL slate to 10-0 with a 35-25 defeat of visiting Lyman Gilmore.

Lauren Mickel's nine points and six each from Ella Corbett and Erin Selleck led a balanced Bearcats offense.

Union Hill wil host Seven Hills on Thursday and then entertain Magnolia on Monday before getting ready for the NCAL tournament which is set for home sites through the first two rounds (Oct. 14-15) and then at Nevada Union High Oct. 17-18.

Magnolia 8th Grade 37 Seven Hills 22 - Tight defensive work from Olivia Konttinen and balanced scoring from Shelby Argus, Nicole Groat and Amber Clrak helped pwer the Lady Rattlers past the Raiders.

Now 12-0 overall on the season, Magnolia also received steady games from Sara Schell (12 points) and Sarah Hagar (9 points).

Magnolia will entertain Pleasant Valley Thursday at 4 p.m.
