Oct. 7, 2008 Bearcats Give Magnolia Battle Before Falling, 22-6 Magnolia needed a seond half standoff to hold off the resurgent Union Hill Bearcats, 22-6, last week in Nevada County Athletic League flag football action. The Bearcats defense played a stong all-around game as they played the Rattlers on even terms for about three-quarters of the test. Playing big for Union Hill was 7th grader Jake Berger who again was a standout in the secondary with 3 deflected balls and one interception. Though uUndersized, Berger has been a standout all season long has he has played safety for the ‘Cats and accounted for five pass interceptions in 5 games despite usually going against taller wide receivers. On offense Tyler Sidebottom passed for 100 percent while other nice plays werr turned in by Nathan Selleck on both sides of the ball. 8th grader Philip Breaux scored the lone TD for the ‘Cats with impressive running moves. |
