Sept. 10, 2008 Union Hill, Magnolia split NCAL Girls GamesFresh off respective tournament championships at the Union Hill Invitational last weekend, the Union Hill 7th grade and Magnolia 8th grade girls basketball teams stayed on the winning track in Nevada County League action on Tuesday afternoon. Playing at Magnolia, the Union Hill 7th graders remained undefeated with a 38-18 romp over the host Rattlers. Lauren Mickel paced the win by sinking 18 points while Janette Williams chipped in with seven more points. Rounding out the scoring were Katie Johnson with six points, Erin Selleck with five and Dalas Albano with two. In the 8th grade contest, Magnolia raised its season slate to 5-0 with a 44-22 win over Union Hill. Leading Magnolia’s offense was Sara Schell with 12 points. Following was Cindy Solomon with seven markers along with a strong defensive game. Also having a hand in the Magnolia win were Ariana Jensen and Stephanie Brooks with six and five points respectively. In Thursday’s games, Union Hill travels to Pleasant Valley and Magnolia visits Weimar Hills at Sierra Hills School in Meadow Vista. |
