Falcons Announce 2008 Football Schedule

An out-of-state road game to open the season and home tilts with Bear River and Placer highlight the 2008 Colfax High football schedule which was released by the school last week.

The Falcons, who were 10-2 and won their sixth consecutive Pioneer Valley League championship last season, have an even split of five home games and five away games.

“It’s a good schedule,” said Colfax coach Tony Martello. “Anytime you have five and five that means you won’t have to deal with a four home and six away every other year.”

For the first time since the late 1980s, Colfax will jaunt out-of-state when they travel to Pocatello, Idaho on Sept. 13 to meet Minico of Rupert, Idaho as part of the "Rocky Mountain Rumble" football showcase.

The event will feature Colfax, Del Oro, Whitney and Grant against Idaho teams. The four games will be played in the Holt Arena, a domed stadium on the campus of Idaho State.

Week Two will have Colfax playing their home opener on Friday night Sept. 19 when the Falcons entertain Truckee..

Colfax then opens PVL play on Fri. Oct. 3 when they host Bear River. It will mark the first time since the two schools began playing football in the mid-1980s that the two will open league play against each other.

Colfax's other home games are Oct. 17 against Mesa Verde (Homecoming); Oct. 31 against Highlands and Nov. 7 versus Placer.
